POSITION SUMMARY: Coordinates total nursing care for acutely ill patients. Primary patient population served include, but not limited to, those admitted for trauma, respiratory infections, stable neurological disorders, diabetes mellitus, dehydration, and dysfunction of the gastrointestinal system. An RN II functions as an experienced clinically competent nurse who provides safe and effective nursing care and may work as a clinical preceptor in providing mentorship and guidance to new employees. Participates in patient/family teaching and provides leadership by working cooperatively with members of the health care team to maintain standards for professional nursing practice in the clinical setting. Participates in organizational and unit based quality improvement activities.

LICENSE/CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Minimum: CA RN, BCLS Preferred: ACLS, TNCC

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Minimum: 1 to 2 years of acute care nursing in a medical surgical setting. Preferred: Experience in nursing with emphasis on trauma, orthopedic, neurosurgical, pulmonary, and general surgical care.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: Minimum: High School Graduate or equivalent. Graduate of an accredited nursing program.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS: Minimum: Ability to use critical thinking skills and prioritize aspects of patient care; possess good interpersonal and intrapersonal communication skills. Ability to calculate medication dosages and safely administer medications.
 

Nights (8 hour) – Full-Time

POSITION SUMMARY: Provides nursing care as part of the critical care float pool. Coordinates total nursing care for critically ill patients (ICU) and cares for a wide spectrum of illnesses and injuries including life saving procedures in all types of emergency and trauma situations to chronic medical problems, minor illnesses and injuries (ER). Maintains standards for professional nursing practice in the Emergency/Trauma/ICU clinical setting. Participates in organizational and unit based quality improvement activities. Completes required competencies within the defined time frames. The RN II will function within the full scope of RN licensure according to the California Nursing Practice Act. Primary patient population served include those admitted for acute/unstable trauma, acute neurological incidents, acute respiratory failure, MI, acute GI bleed, electrolyte imbalance, and patients post drug overdose. Participates in patient/family teaching and provides leadership by working cooperatively with members of the health care team to maintain standards for professional nursing practice in the clinical setting. Is able to provide mentorship and guidance to new employees. May be floated to any of the critical care departments.

LICENSE/CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Minimum: Current California Registered Nurse (R.N.) license, American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Preferred: Trauma Nurse Core Course provider (TNCC-P), CCRN, Neonatal Resuscitation Provider (NRP), Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN)

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Minimum: 2 years of acute care nursing in a cardiovascular, trauma, or neurosurgical ICU. Preferred: Five years Emergency, Trauma, Critical Care nursing with emphasis on trauma, neurosurgical, or cardiovascular care.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: Minimum: High School Graduate or equivalent. Graduate of an accredited nursing program.

Full-Time Days - Full-Time

GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES:
Responsible for working with the Division Supply Chain Team to implement the strategic direction of Supply Cost Management within a facility. This position is responsible for reviewing and optimizing the current GPO contract portfolio, developing and executing product standardization with a facility in conjunction with the Division Supply Chain Team. This position is responsible for building strategic alliances with Hospital Executive staff with emphasis on the COO, CNO and Clinical Department Directors at it relates to successfully executing the Supply Chain Operations Plan.

EDUCATION - A Bachelor’s degree preferred

EXPERIENCE - A minimum of five years experience as a nurse in acute care setting

DUTIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO

• Develops and implements strategies and processes for reducing supply expense/adjusted admission.
• Develops and implements product standardization and utilization.
• Monitors utilization and cost data and identifies waste.
• Develops and facilitates clinical product committees to reduce the number of SKUs by standardization, increase product quality, evaluate processes and introduce new products.
• Actively interacts with the clinicians performing the departmental tasks to identify improvement opportunities and develop/implement continuous quality improvement process regarding supply/labor practices and recommends cost reductions.
• Actively participates and communicates with Medical Staff and clinical staff to monitor, communicate, and make improvements to utilization profiling.
• Actively participates, communicates and educates all affected departments, physicians, and medical management personnel regarding product and procedure changes
• Maintains and communicates financial and performance measurements as gauge of standardization/ utilization success.
• Collaborate with physicians in identifying and implementing improvements and standardization.
• Measures and continuously verifies process improvements and cost savings.‚
• Demonstrates knowledge of occurrence reporting system and utilizes system to report potential patient safety issues.
• Practice and adhere to the "Code of Conduct" philosophy and "Mission and Value Statement"
• Perform other duties as assigned

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

• Demonstrated leadership skills.
• Demonstrated organizational and communication skills.Proficient in the use of spreadsheet and word-processing applications.
• Functional working knowledge of clinical and surgical supply and SKU maintenance processes.
• Demonstrated quality improvement implementation skills with regard to clinical processes and SKU management.
• Ability to communicate with physicians and other clinical healthcare professionals.
• Understanding of utilization and productivity in a variety of clinical settings.
